Financial Assistance
Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 12:00noon
Eligibility:
- Low-income
- Identification requirement: government issued (state or federal)
- Residency requirement: Scotland County Resident
Areas of assistance:
- utilities (electricity, water, natural gas, and propane)
- Rent/mortgage
- Prescription medication
Required documentation:
- Proof of Scotland County residency
- Department of Social Services written referral
- Copy of the bill (typically the current utility bill or notice of eviction)
- Client information sheet (available at our office)
If approved, clients are provided a voucher specifying the dollar amount of assistance this agency is able to assist with. Clients may receive financial assistance once in a 12-month period, and no more than twice. Additionally, clients may be referred to other agencies to specific to their needs in order to make them more financially independent.
All payments are made directly to the vendor within 30 days once the case is closed.
